Sometimes life transitions can take us by surprise.
And then sometimes they can just punch us in the face.
Serious illness, job loss or change, relationship breakup or betrayal, or fertility problems can be difficult to work through.
Yet there is often growth and meaning that we can salvage and leverage in the wake of these life transitions.
When most people think of loss, they only think of the death of loved one.
However, feelings of loss are personal and unique to the individual. People can grieve the loss of anything that is important to them.
Some common losses that can be associated with strong feelings of grief:
Loss of a close friend
Death of a friend, partner, or family member
Serious illness of a loved one
Loss of a pet
Relationship breakup
Job loss
However, less obvious losses can also cause strong feelings of grief for many people.
Leaving or moving away from home
Chronic illness or loss of health
Job change
Graduation from school or university
Disability or loss of mobility
Loss of financial security or ability to provide for family
To manage loss and difficult transitions, we wiill work with you to help you:
Handle difficult thoughts and feelings more effectively
Find meaning in the loss or transition and leveraging it to help you going forward to honor what you’ve lost
Increase your ability to be and stay present
