Savannah McSheffrey, PhD
Hi, I’m Dr. Savannah McSheffrey. I’m a licensed psychologist currently based out of Central Florida. I specialize in working with high-performing individuals including creatives, executives, entrepreneurs, medical professionals, athletes, first responders, and veterans including prior U.S. military special operation forces.
I help people in high-achieving fields create lives that feel richer than before by helping you uncover patterns and beliefs that have been holding you back.
I work from an acceptance and mindfulness lens to help with growth and healing from trauma, stress, and mood and anxiety issues. I combine science-backed tools and techniques with compassion, authenticity, and humor to create a space for people to explore and manage difficult emotions, build purpose, and discover empowerment on their healing journey.
In therapy, I specialize in supporting those looking for help with:
Trauma and PTSD
Childhood trauma
Moral injury
High-achievement stress
Anxiety and panic
Sleep issues including nightmares
Overwhelming and difficult to manage emotions
Self-criticism
Self-sabotaging behaviors
Whether it’s managing stress, improving sleep, increasing energy, setting boundaries, or developing healthier routines—this process is tailored to you. Our work together will be guided by your goals and values. We’ll examine your current and past experiences to understand how they are influencing your thoughts, feelings, and actions. You’ll learn skills to create the life you want. My goal is for you to leave each session with something tangible to apply to your day-to-day to help you be more effective. You’ll learn tools that will lead to big changes!
My clients describe me as both deeply compassionate and engaging. I will meet you with warmth and authenticity and walk beside you on your path to healing. I’ll honor your lived experience, help you feel seen, and offer a space where you can be real.
I’ll also challenge you because I care about your growth and want to help you get unstuck. I’ll coach you through the work of change, even when it’s difficult, because I believe in your capacity to create the life you deserve.
I received my undergraduate degree at the University of South Florida and my PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of Rhode Island. I completed an APA-accredited Clinical Psychology internship and postdoctoral fellowship at the Boston VA Healthcare System with an emphasis in treating PTSD. I’ve received specialty training in trauma focused therapies including Prolonged Exposure Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
Following fellowship, I worked at the Rhode Island Hospital Partial Hospital Program and was a clinical assistant professor at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. From 2017-2020, I worked in both the trauma and DBT specialty tracks and helped hundreds of people on their healing journey. In 2020, I returned to my home state of Florida to work at the Department of Veterans Affairs where I was passionate about serving Veterans in the PTSD clinic.
I’ve spent years co-authoring scientific publications and providing clinical supervision to psychology graduate students, interns, and fellows. I’m dedicated to creating a warm and non-judgmental environment and providing science-backed tools and techniques for healing. My expertise is in treating PTSD/trauma and difficulties with emotion regulation.
